About AARP Tax-Aide

AARP Tax-Aide, the nation’s largest, free, volunteer-run counseling and preparation service, helps more than 2.6 million people file their personal income tax forms each year.

The program is offered at more than 6,500 sites around the country including senior centers, colleges, libraries and other convenient locations.

Volunteers go through a four-day training program and must pass IRS certification exams each year. In addition, each state and federal return is double-checked by a second certified tax counselor before it is filed electronically.

Each year at this time, AARP Tax-Aide volunteers prepare federal, state and local tax returns for middle and low income taxpayers, with special attention to those aged 60+.

AARP Tax-Aide is administered through the AARP Foundation in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service.
