Matthew is currently Board Chair of the Gwinnett Tech Foundation, and the group recently hosted their 7th Annual Scholarship Celebration at the Lawrenceville campus of Gwinnett Technical College.
This annual event gives scholarship donors like Matthew the opportunity to meet their scholarship recipients and discuss why they support the Gwinnett Tech Foundation.
Matthew is proud to have been awarding scholarships to students for many years, and with the Georgia Hope Scholarship now being extended to cover technical college tuition for qualified students, those funds can be used to cover books, materials, fees and other expenses. This gives students a chance to begin their career with a good paying job and little or no debt.
Recipients also have the opportunity to share their stories with attendees like Pat and Glenda Rogers, founders of the Pat Rogers foundation and the United Maintenance Scholarship.
A few of the scholarship recipients shared powerful stories of how they received free child care from the Hudgens Center on campus, which is a facility that’s part of the early childhood education program at the college. This is a win-win for both the college that needs children in the program, and the students who need free child care in order to pursue their degree and begin a rewarding career.
