How to Prepare your Home for Hurricane Irma in Gwinnett

Now that we have a better idea of how hurricane Irma will impact Gwinnett County and the surrounding area, we will likely have heavy rain and steady 30-40mph winds. Here are a few tips to help protect your home and property: • Remove furniture, plants and hanging baskets from your porch and place inside or in your garage • Move your trash can, recycling bins and grills into your garage • Remove all bird feeders, wind chimes, yard art, etc which can become damaged at the very least or turn into projectiles at the very worst • Make sure any outdoor pets have access to shelter, water and food, or consider bringing them indoors • If you have loose limbs, they’ll likely be falling during the storm. Stay clear from trees if possible. • Fully charge your devices and bring out a few candles and flashlights in case of a power outage. Stay safe, and please keep the Floridians in the direct path of the storm in your prayers!

5 Questions with Our New Director of Operations, Jim Galasso

Earlier this month we welcomed Jim Galasso to the Holtkamp Heating & Air team as our new Director of Operations. We asked him 5 questions to showcase how Jim will help us deliver even greater comfort to your family. 1. What are your main goals at Holtkamp Heating & Air? When I came on I understood I was coming to an established company with strong practices. My goal is to work off of this and continue to help move the company forward. I like the honest feedback of everyone involved to help improve processes to become more efficient and streamline procedures. My position is that of a facilitator in that I am here to assist everyone so they can do their best work. 2. How have your past work experiences prepared you for this role? I have over 20 years of leadership experience in very diverse environments. I’ve run multi-unit locations and big box stores, leading teams of up to 100 people. The thing that I am most proud of is consistently being ranked at the top of class in customer and associate satisfaction. My biggest takeaway from all my experience is taking care of the internal and external customer. I truly believe in […]

Holtkamp HVAC’s Smart Thermostats are a Smart Choice for Aurora Theatre

We love it when we get to help our customers become even more energy efficient! As the official HVAC company of the Aurora Theatre (and proud supporters), we recently installed 17 new programmable thermostats. In the past, the theater had a hodgepodge of programmable thermostats and none of them worked together. We noticed many areas throughout the building, which, despite only being occupied during a performance, were still being heated and cooled 24/7. We changed out every thermostat, replacing them with the Trane XL624 programmable control. Each thermostat can now be accessed online, allowing users to program the heating and air schedule, setting times and temperatures, and then download the schedule into each thermostat. The system offers the ability to register multiple cell phones, along with customized levels of authority and access. For instance, if someone wanted to control the thermostat in their office, the system administrator could grant them access to only that thermostat or allow them to control multiple thermostats. In fact, Anthony Rodriguez, producing artistic director, can access the entire system from his smart phone. We also love that the new thermostats prevent “thermostat tampering”. Every thermostat is locked: someone could touch it, try to re-set it, […]

Suzanne Holtkamp Wins Arts Volunteer of the Year

Suzanne Holtkamp, one of the owners of Holtkamp HVAC, proudly received the ArtWorks Gwinnett Fusion Award for Arts Volunteer of the Year. This was the 2nd Annual Fusion Awards, an event that highlights the artistic achievements of Gwinnett County by bringing together artists, arts organizations and philanthropists to celebrate the growing Gwinnett art community. Below, Suzanne and her husband Matthew enjoy a meal prior to the awards presentation. The event took place at the majestic new Buford Community Center and Theatre, beginning with a delicious spread of heavy appetizers in the upstairs ballroom. After these tasty treats and time spent mingling, guests gathered in the Silvia Beard Theatre for the awards ceremony. To celebrate the arts, there were several performances throughout the show by the Royal Dance Academy, Zephyr Instrumental, ADvocate Arts, Herman Pennamon and the Aurora Theatre. (Holtkamp HVAC is a proud sponsor of the Aurora Theatre) There were several recipients of award plaques (full list here), and when the category of Arts Volunteer of the Year was announced, we were thrilled to hear Suzanne’s name. She received this recognition for her efforts in organizing the “Off the Hook” rug exhibit at the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center. This […]
