Celebrating our 5-Year Partnership with the Hudgens Center for the Arts

The Hudgens Center for Art & Learning is pleased to announce the significant results of a 5-year strategic partnership with Holtkamp Heating & Air. In addition to generously sponsoring free admission to the galleries for five years, which has generated thousands of new visitors, the Holtkamp team also serviced all of the facility’s HVAC systems and maintained 18 smart thermostats at no charge to maximize energy efficiency. Through a combination of donated services, significant energy savings, private gifts and free admission, the Holtkamp’s support represents close to a quarter million dollars in the first five years of partnership. According to Hudgens Center Executive Director Laura Ballance, “Holtkamp Heating & Air has been a great friend and supporter of the Hudgens for the past five years. Thanks to their generous partnership, admission is free to visitors of the Hudgens’ five galleries, our 28,000sf Sculpture Garden and the interactive Children’s Art Zone, allowing us to truly serve as an inspiring, enriching resource, accessible to all in our community.” “With approximately 8,500 gallery visitors annually, we have seen a tremendously positive impact on the growth and reach of the arts in our community thanks to their generosity.” “Additionally, The Hudgens’ cost savings through […]

We are pleased to announce a “SuiteStakes” community raffle to help support Special Kneads & Treats bakery in Lawrenceville. Through our Holtkamp Family Foundation, Matthew and Suzanne Holtkamp are helping the bakery raise funds to pay off their building. This achievement will free up funds and allow the bakery to bring many of the 225+ adults with special needs off their waiting list and into the bakery as paid employees doing meaningful work. The grand prize for the raffle is a VIP Atlanta Gladiators Experience in the Holtkamp’s private suite at Gas South Arena. Other prizes for the raffle are tied to several organizations the Holtkamps support throughout the community, including tickets to Aurora Theatre, art classes at the Hudgens Center, a gift certificate to the bakery and more. Tickets for the raffle are only $10, and the Holtkamps hope to raise $10,000 by August 31st. “We are longtime supporters of Special Kneads bakery and whole-heartedly support their impactful and loving mission,” said Suzanne Holtkamp. “We thought this raffle would be a fun and effective way to raise awareness about the bakery while giving individuals a chance to win some amazing prizes. Mike Rowe: How We’ve Set Up the Workforce for Failure

As the owner of a company dedicated to hard work and superior customer service, Matthew Holtkamp first got his start over 35 years ago at technical college in Iowa. Knowing this education gave him a solid foundation of skills that eventually led to him owning his own company, Matthew has always worked hard to give back to the next generation and provide them with a hand up as they get started on their own careers. Whether serving on the Board of Trustees at Gwinnett Technical College, providing scholarships to students going through the HVAC program, or hiring apprentices onto his team of HVAC professionals, he’s consistently worked to help shape the local workforce of tomorrow. Many economic and educational factors, including Covid and the resulting labor shortages, are highlighting some very problematic trends in employment and education. They’ve become disconnected in ways that aren’t leading to positive long-term outcomes for young students faced with making important decisions about their professional and financial future. Please listen to this insightful video as Mike Rowe breaks down what he’s learned from “Dirty Jobs” and the impact that taking pride out of hard work has had on our workforce and how it inevitably crippled […]

Holtkamp HVAC Hosts Successful Career Day

On Saturday we hosted our first ever HVAC Career Day, giving young people in our community a chance to experience a “Day in the Life of an HVAC Professional.” Kicking off the day with donuts, Matthew Holtkamp led a group of students through three hours of fun, educational and hands-on activities. Attendees were able to tour a loaded HVAC van, handle tools of the trade, cut pipes, solder/braze pipes and more. “Nothing gets me more excited than sharing my love of HVAC,” said Matthew. “All seemed enthralled with what we do and three attendees committed to our apprenticeship program.” With service jobs providing a great career opportunity right here in Gwinnett County, this workshop was an ideal opportunity to give these students a chance to consider this career path. We’re excited to plan another Career Day event in the future and invite even more students from the community to explore the world of HVAC! If you know a student interested in signing up, please have them contact us.

Holtkamps Donate Mural to Special Kneads Bakery

Matthew and Suzanne Holtkamp are longtime supporters of Special Kneads & Treats, a bakery in downtown Lawrenceville that employs adults with special needs. The bakery moved into a larger facility a couple of years ago, and found that the nondescript nature of their building exterior was working against them. Thousands of cars pass their location every day, but weren’t aware of their heartwarming mission and tasty treats. In this video, see how the Holtkamps stepped in to help provide beautiful new graphics for the building. Please go visit our friends at Special Kneads & Treats at 156 Scenic Highway, near Downtown Lawrenceville. You’ll be amazed by their wide variety of confections and cakes, and you’ll fall in love with their wonderful team!
