Well, just when you thought it was safe to go outside! Matthew’s mug shows up in yet another place! Wasn’t it enough to see him coming and going on all those Holtkamp vans? Anyhow, read his “People to Know” section from Gwinnett Magazine.

Holtkamp Heating & Air Congratulates Latest Grant Winner
Can’t believe it but we’re fast approaching our ten ton goal of food for local food banks! Barbara Runkle, a parapro at Oakland Meadow School saw our booth at the Memorial Day Concert at Suwanee Town Park last May and immediately took an interest in the CAN Challenge. Oakland Meadow is a Gwinnett County Public School that serves the special education needs of students ages 3-21 who have deficits in cognitive and motor development. During the summer, Barbara motivated the staff at Oakland Meadow and within a few weeks, they had collected 1108 items! The food and personal hygiene items were donated to the Quinn House on August 12 and it couldn’t have come at a better time. The summer is often the most trying time for local food banks. Congratulations to Barbara Runkle and Oakland Meadow School in helping to fight local hunger and in earning a $250 grant from the Holtkamp Family Foundation! Job well done!

That's Holtkamp with a "K". But What Does it Mean?
Here’s my trivia for the day. We’ve heard from customers who tell us about Holtkamp organs and others who have visited the Holtkamp Patisserie in Amsterdam. There’s even a Holtkamp Nursery in Tennessee that specializes in African Violets, one of which was actually sent along on a space mission. But what does the name “Holtkamp” mean in German? (I know you’ve been up nights, pondering this very question.) Well, straight from my ink-stained fingers and research-weary eyes: “Holt” means “wood” and “kamp” means “enclosure or fenced area.” So there you have it. Our name means “wooden fence.” You thought it was going to mean “air quality professional” or “the best HVAC company in Atlanta” didn’t you? Perhaps we’ll start carrying an AC with a nice wood grained exterior. Now that’s a keeper.
