Holtkamp Heating & Air Tree Named Aurora's Best of the Fest

My achy fingers are still recalling the long nights spent stuffing wires into cans but now, I can massage my fingers with glee.  Our tree was named the Best of the Fest in the Aurora Theatre’s 4th Annual Festival of Trees!  Thanks to all the patrons and customers who voted with canned goods and unwrapped toys for our tree.  In case you missed the pictures, click here to see the infamous tree made entirely from cans to promote our Gwinnett CAN Challenge.  We’re already planning next year’s tree.  But what could possibly top 323 cans of beets and peas, emptied, labeled, strung, glued, painted, decorated and then…. Oh, geez, I’m getting tired all over again.  Best to stop now…  Thanks again!

Holtkamp Heating & Air Voted Best of Gwinnett 2010

Thank you Gwinnett!  We’ve just heard that for the second year in a row we’ve been voted Best of Gwinnett in the Home Services category.  Thousands of Gwinnetians cast their votes and we rose to the top.  We live, eat, work and play in Gwinnett County and we’re proud once again to be the Best of Gwinnett!  Thank you and we look forward to many more exciting adventures in 2011.

Holt KAMPing in Style

You didn’t need to tell us this was the hottest summer on record in over 100 years.  By mid September, the Holtkamp team was ready for some fun.  We all dusted off our tents and loaded our whining families into various assorted SUVs.  Thought I’d share pictures from HoltKAMPoree 2010 – our annual company camping trip to Lake Hartwell.  I’ll spare you the pictures of shirtless men and pretty bad hair mornings, afternoons, and evenings.  (Matthew without his hair gel was ghastly enough!)  Instead I have the most important pictures.   First, this is Bev’s tent (our dynamic office manager), complete with AC.  Notice the nice duct tape.  She gets an A in DIY but an F in Whole House Sealing and Insulation! Here are the newest HoltKAMPorees.  Eleanor (on the left) takes time to pose while watching for someone to drop a piece of steak from lunch! And last but not least, shirtless men out boating.  AHHHH!  Gotcha! Here’s to HoltKAMPoree 2011.  May your tent always be dry and your waterskiing wet!

Gwinnett Accepted the CAN Challenge at Celebrate Service Festival!

Thank you Gwinnett!  It was an absolutely beautiful, sunny day and you came out in big numbers.  Over 10,000 citizens enjoyed the music, the 5K run, the soccer shootout and all the numerous other activities as they celebrated our wonderful community of service.  We collected over 1600 cans of food which is app. 1500 lbs.!  It was distributed among local food banks today including some of the area St. Vincent de Paul chapters.  Thought you’d want to see some of the festivities.  The winner of the nonprofit $500 grant was SIFE – Students in Free Enterprise who brought almost 300 items.  Stay tuned for the location of the next CAN Challenge!

Best of Gwinnett – Time to Vote

It’s that time of year again.  Thanks to everyone who voted us Best Home Services for 2009.  Holtkamp Heating & Air is nominated again this year and we hope you take a few minutes to cast your vote!  The deadline is Friday, Oct. 1.  Thank you! Click here to cast your vote.

Superior Service in 98 Degree Weather Is Not Complicated

Brace yourself.  The forecast says a high of 98 today.  What do you do when it’s going to be insanely hot?  Go shopping for yard items.  Ha!  Just got back.  Not going to bore you with the inane details.  Suffice to say, it wasn’t pleasant.   Knew what I wanted.  Just needed help in the store retrieving it from an upper shelf.  No help around.  Found help.  Asked for help from the help.  Said help walked away saying she had just walked in to her shift and didn’t know what I was talking about.  Next help told me he was helping another customer.  Store manager was in a meeting.   Couldn’t help me either.  I’m hot all over again just talking about it. Hot weather seems to make human interaction complicated.   But it shouldn’t be, complicated that is.  Superior service comes from a dedication to learning and a love of what you do.   Spreading a little joy along the way is the jelly on the donut.   So who’s coming out to your house when you call Holtkamp Heating & Air?  A breath of fresh, cool air. We hire attitudes.  We hire team players who keep cool when the humidity rises.   Skills can be taught; an infectious smile and a kind, soothing word […]

Broken AC in Buford, Suwanee, Sugar Hill, Lawrenceville? Ask Matthew Holtkamp

Back by popular demand; I am turning over the blog (just temporarily) to Matthew so he can answer your most pressing HVAC questions! My outdoor unit is noisy.  Does that mean it’s broken? While some brands and models are more noisy than others, if you are noticing that it is particularly loud, then something is probably amiss.  While it could be a number of things, most often it is a broken part within the compressor.  Compressors operate similarly to car engines, with pistons, valves, etc.  If you do have a problem with your compressor, it’s best handled by one of our NATE-certified technicians.  You can even schedule an appointment online. How can I keep my husband from fooling with the thermostat? You could try distracting him with the remote control, his favorite food or a promise to take him golfing.  If that proves too costly or time-consuming, our new programmable thermostats now have lockout features.  However, we’re not responsible for keeping marital peace! I had a contractor quote me prices to replace my windows.  He said they are making my home very inefficient.  How do I know it’s a good deal? Window replacement is one of the most common unnecessary […]
